FAQ

Do you use a textbook?

Usually not. During each lesson I create notes of vocabulary and grammar concepts introduced in the lesson, along with answers to questions that come up. These notes serve as personalized study materials. I’ve found this method to be more effective in helping students reach their goal of conversational fluency than text books which take a one-size-fits-all approach. I also like to offer flexible reading and translation assignments which are based on your personal interests. If you would like to use a text book, based on your Dutch level and learning style, I can recommend one that we can work with.

Is there homework?

Study time between lessons is encouraged but not required. My lessons feel like lively conversations and are designed to enhance your speaking, reading and listening skills quickly. Following each lesson, I will send you lesson notes and a vocabulary list. I recommend that you set aside time to review these before our next meeting. If you have additional time, I will provide you with reading and translation assignments to enhance your reading and writing fluency.

How will I be billed for lessons and what payment forms are accepted?

You will receive a monthly invoice payable within 14 days via bank transfer. Bank transfer is the preferable payment method but if you prefer you can also pay in cash at the time of your lesson.

What is the cancellation policy?

I will not charge you for lessons cancelled 24 hours in advance. However, I charge (half of your lesson fee) for lessons cancelled within 24 hours.
